The Lakeside 🏡

House of the week

3600 Lakeview Blvd | 5 beds, 4 baths | 5,150 sq ft

Price: $5,995,000

If you buy this house, you are contractually obligated to host a 1990s-style prom photo shoot on that stairwell. It’s the perfect wraparound, vaulted ceiling, whimsical banister and chandelier combo background for awkward teens with a lot of feelings — that lovely mix of romantic sparks coupled with deep annoyance with their parents for embarrassing them in such a cringe moment. Besides that, this house just screams, “I went to Italy and wanted to recreate it in Lake Oswego.”

Book: No Cure for Being Human by Kate Bowler

I’m continually trying to reconnect myself with my mortality as a way to stay present and live more today. As an offshoot of these efforts, I find cancer memoirs to be a genre that consistently pierces absolutely shreds the “Oh I can do that next year” veil. Enter Kate Bowler from stage left. At thirty-five, her life was upended by a cancer diagnosis that shattered her belief in limitless possibility. With sharp wit and raw honesty, she explores the fragility of being human.
